School Tours

The SSM Métis Heritage Centre has a number of school tours available for different grade levels and classes.

School tours are only available on the days we are open to the public. If you request a different day of the week, staff will be in touch to reschedule. Please use the form on this page to book your class.

General School Tour

Length: 1.5 hours
Cost: $7.50/student
Grades: 3-12

This tour will cover who the Métis are, their history in Sault Ste. Marie, and the Powley Case. The content presented will be modified depending on grade level to ensure students understand.

The tour schedule will be:

Unload from bus & drop off bags; 10 minutes
Introductory presentation; 20 minutes
Exhibit tour; 20-30 minutes
Scavenger hunt; 10-20 minutes
Pack up time; 10 minutes

NOTE: Chaperones are still required to supervise the students.

Staff with reach out to you to confirm your date and time and provide you with an invoice. Invoices can be paid in person the day of, or in advance, either in-person at the Heritage Centre or over the phone.
