Finger Weaving

Finger weaving is the traditional method used to create the iconic Métis sashes. The Heritage Centre is proud to help continue this tradition by holding workshops that teach the basics of finger weaving.

These workshops are open to everyone young and old, Métis and non-Métis. All supplies will be provided, and you’ll be able to take home your woven creation at the end of the workshop.

Please see below for the different finger weaving workshops we are offering. We encourage you to pre-register, to ensure we can prepare material for everyone.

Finger Weave a Bookmark

Create a three colour, 12 strand bookmark in a basic pattern. Participants can show up during the workshop when it’s most convenient, however we recommend getting there early to allow you the most time to work.

This workshop is beginner friendly.

This workshop is 1 day only. Please choose the date that works best for you.
